PROPOSED AMALGAMATION.
BIRKENHEAD AND NORTHCOTE.
A special meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council was held last evening, in order to receive a requisition from electors asking the council to take a poll on the proposal for the union of the boroughs of Birkenhead and Northcote. On the motion of the Mayor, Mr. J. P. McPhail, seconded by Mr. R. Taylor, it was unanimously decided to hold the poll on December 10.
