REPUBLICAN LEADER'S VIEW.
RESERVATIONS CERTAIN. A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON, Oct. 20. Mr. H. C. Lodge, in the course of a statement to-day, said that a decisive majority in the benate would vote that reservations be attached to the resolution for the ratification of the Versailles Treaty. The treaty reservations must be unequivocal and effective, protecting the peace, safety, sovereignty, and independence of the United States, Amen- , canising the treaty and at the same time serving the cause of general peace. j Mr. Lodge pointed out that in the ! event of the Democrats defeating a resolution for the ratification of the Versailles Treaty, embodying reservations, the Republicans would vote ' against any attempt to reconsider the resolution. He said that 49 Republicans and six Democrats i would vote in support of the reservations.
