ATTEMPTED THEFT.

TWO GREASERS FIXED.

A neat capture* of two ship's greasers, about to steal some of the store* from tbo hold of the Ajana, carried out by one of the engineers a few nights ago. led t<> the appearance of Alexander Sinclair and Ale Mookred before Mr. J. K. Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Each pleaded guilty to charges of attempted theft of ship's stores worth 10s.

Chief-Detective McMahon stated that the engineer, becoming suspicious, hid himself in the hold and surprised the two men as they came down the ladder. Later they admitted to Detective f'ummings that they had gone down to get stores.

Each man was fined £2 and costs.
