Trotzky's manifesto to Soviet i Russia is transmitted by wireless ! from Moscow. He ridicules the north-western Russians' advance, and describes Generals Yudenitch, Balakovitch, and Rodzianko as a blooddrunken troop. He adds, we will not surrender Petrograd. Troops are going to its assistance. We must smash the skulls of Yudenitch's bands and the British and French Imperialists. RUSSIAN SECURITIES. RISE ON STOCK EXCHANGE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Seed. 2 a.m.) LONDON. Oct. 18. Russian stocks and shares in all kinds of Government municipal, railway, mining, and oil undertakings have risen rapidly this week as a result of the anti-Bolshevik successes. Investors in Britain have sunk much money in Russian mining and oil shares. The oil properties in the Caucasus have suffered little material damage. The chief need is for labour and facilities for distributing the oil and remitting the proceeds to Britain. French investors are the biggest holders of i Russian Government . securities, £1,000,000,000 of which has been in default since 1917. The resumption of interest payments on this sum would largely relieve the French, exchange, and thus remove a hindrance to trade between Britain and France.
