SHIPS MAY BE RECALLED. By Telegraph Press Association— (Received 1-5 &.m.) A. Md N.Z. LONDON. Oct. 18. It is stated in authoritative circles at Portsmouth that when the United States ratifies the Versailles treaty the Royal Navy will be reduced to 50,000 men, and the marines to 10,000. It is also reported that the Government will close all overseas naval stations, and bring home ships from foreign waters-
