The Australian Press Association learns that a great Bolshevik offensive against Tsaritsin, in South Russia, failed after two days of fierce fighting. Severe losses were inflicted on the enemy by General Wrangel. The Cossacks in the Don and Khoper regions took upwards of 3000 Bolshevik prisoners, including a rifle battalion. ADVANCE ON MOSCOW. A Bolshevik wireless message i mentions that General Denikin, with j considerable forces, supported by j armoured cars, tanks and aeroplanes I has begun an advance in the TsariI tsin region.

General Denikin announces a further advance towards Moscow. His forces are now in the vicinity of Briansk, 90 miles west of Orel. He refers to fierce fighting to the east and south-east of Voronezh, indicating that the Bolshevik resistance has become stronger. PLEBISCITE IN MOSCOW. DEFEAT FOR BOLSHEVISM. Router. LONDON, Oct. J8 A Bolshevik wireless message admits that a plebiscite taken in Moscow anionic workmen resulted in a majority in favour of Admiral Koltchak.

The Bolsheviks are retreating on the whole of the Siberian front.
