Five cases of typhoid fev<;r have occurred among the Maoris at Omaramutu, two proving fatal.

Another case ia reported at Omaio.

The district health inspector visited the infected areas yesterday, and precautionary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the disease.

No fresh cases have occurred for several days.
