A TRYING EXPERIENCE.
FERRY PASSENGERS* LATE TRIP
A faying experience befel a party of over 30, including a number of ladies, who attended a social at Northcote on Saturday night. On the assurance of those responsible for the arrangements that a ferry steamer would leave Northcote at 12.30 a.m. for the city, they remained till the conclusion of the social at midnight. When they had remained on the wharf for some time it was realised that there was no indication of securing a passage to Auckland before 8.30 a.m. yesterday. Attention was attracted to their plight by the ringing of the fog-signal bell on the wharf, and as a result the steamer Albatross made the trip at 2.45 a.m. The promoters of the social state that they were given a definite promise by one of the Ferry Company' officials that a steamer would be put on at 12.30.
