MASTERY IN THE SOUTH.
DENTIN'S POWER GROWING. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9.55 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 16. The Bolsheviks opened a general attack ou the west bank of the Volga, north-west of Tsaritsin, but were repulsed heavily. General Denikin, having laid his hands on'the whole of South Russia, has increased his armies five-fold. He is complete master over the Bolsheviks and grows in power daily. There is little probability of the Bolsheviks checking his advance. Since May General Denikin has captured 250,000 prisoners. Owing to demands on other fronts the Bolsheviks are unable to do more than act on the defensive in Eastern Russia behind th» Tobol River. The Siberians reached the Tobol on a 90-mile front on both j sides of Kurgan and have thrown i patrols across at various points. The Bolsheviks destroyed the railway bridge at Kurgan. Meanwhile Ural Cossacks are attacking Uralsk on ; three sides.
