In the House of Representatives this afternoon, the Minister for Finance, .Sir James Allen, stated that the revenue for the six months, i nding September 30. totalled £8,249.145, bein? an increase of £1.192,147. when compared with the same period of the previous year. Abnormal items in the revenue noted were :—Customs, £405,000, and stamps, £547.000. The expenditure totalled £10,452,00-0. being £2,199,000 in excess of the eame period in the previous year. The largest items were:—l iterest and sinking fund £850.928 and £313.000 under specia' Acts, railways £409,000, mental hospitals £20-0.000, agriculture £113,000, and education £116,000.'
