The case of Walter Ashbv. who was committed for trial on September 4. on a charge of murdering two Maoris at Oromahoe, near Kawakawa, in August was mentioned at the Supreme Court vesterday. Mr. Singer, on behalf of the accused applied to Mr. Justice Stringer to fix the' . hearing of an application to have the accused released on bail for Tuesday next Counsel stated that he was instructed that evidence was available that would justify the release of the accused on bail. The hearing of the application was tix ed for luesday morning, as requested.
