THE MARINE BOROUGHS.
With a. view to making the amalgamation of all, or any of the North Shore boroughs legally possible, and with a view to combining the boroughs of Devonport, Takaptma, Northcote, and Birkenhead into one urban education "district for the return of members of the Education Board, the Northcote Borough Council has drafted a clause for inclusion in the " Washingup Bill" declaring the boroughs of Takapuna, Northcote, and Birkenhead a continuous area for the purposes of the Education Act and the Municipal Corporations Act. in these respects. The co-operation of the Education Board and the Takapuna and Birkenhead Borough Councils is being solicited, and Mr. A. Harris, M.P., has been communicated with.
