WAiHI. £25,001 FROM 15,152 TONS. The Waihi Gold Mining Company, during tie period ended October 4, crushed and treated 15,152 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at £25,001. Compared with the return for the corresponding: period of last year, when 16,006 ton* yielded bullion worth £28,965, this shows! a decrease of £3964. The total won from the mine to date is £12,507,883. The following information has been cabled to the London office of the company: —No. 7 level: At 139 ft to the east of No. 6 shaft crosscut the north branch of the Martha lode branches off to the east at an angle of 46dog true. The first 9ft to the east ass-ays 3s 4d, and the neat 82ft £1 5s 3d. No. 8 level: The east drive on the north branch of the Martha iode in the Horse crosscut has been extended 21ft; value, £2 10s 6d. The west drive has been extended Wft; value, £2 6s 7d. No. 9 levelr The north branch of the Empire lode has been intersected at 87ft north of the Empire lode, in Power crosscut, which is 290 ft east of No 4 shaft, north crosscut. It is 4ft wide, and its course 36deg true underlying north; value £1 12b. Seventeen feet has been, driven east on the lode; value, £2 8s 6d. No. II level: On the north branch of the Empire lode in Lion crosscut the drive east has been extended 4itt; value. £1 Bs. At 100 ft east of Lion crosscut the lode was crosscut. The first 10ft assays 3s 6d, and the last sft £1 5s 6d. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Waitangi Consolidated: At No. 1 level driving on the main reef has been commenced. 4ft having been driven during the week. The reef at the crosscut is about 9ft in width, and is composed of nice-looking ore, but not so heavily mineralised as at No. 2 level. No. 2 level was driven 4ft, the ore being still of very favourable appearance and carrying good minerals. Kuranui: The Magazine Tunnel has been extended 9ft, making the total distance 1721 ft. The country in the face has changed to a hard black diorite rock, causing progress to be slower. An examination was made of a reef at the Flatsheet about 1000 ft in the tunnel, and the a*say results of the preliminary samples were very satisfactory. The reef ie about 2ft in width at the point examined, carrying values of free gold associated with silver tellurides. Ohinerouri.—During the week ended October 11, the Camoola low level was extended Bft. The total distance is now 442 ft. The ! country rock is interlaced with quartz stringers. The intermediate drive on the footwall portion of the Queen reef was extended 10ft. The total distance driven from i the main rise is 38ft. The ore is the full width of the drive (6ft), and the hanging- ! wall is not showing. «
