PICTURE THEATRE WANTS.
THE INDEPENDENT EXHIBITORS. [BT TSUKHIAPH.'— ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. A deputation from the recently-formed Independent Exhibitors' Association waited on the-Prime Minister this afternoon with a request that legislation be passed enabling picture theatres to revert to tb.B hours prevailing before the epidemic, and also that independent exhibitors should be given an opportunity of showing films imported by the Government. It was stated that films of great battles on the Western front had not been shown in New Zealand to the best advantage. In future legislation affecting the picture industry the association would be pleased to be consulted. 1L;. Massey said with reference to the opening of theatres at pre-epidemic hours he thought it probable that legislation would be passed this session. With regard to future legislation he would, if possible, oroara the opinion of the association, but he thought this might be a little difficult. He would make inquiries regarding Government war films.
