OBITUARY.
AN EARLY SETTLER. [BY TELEGRAPH.— OOBEESPOSDEST.] WANGANTJI, Friday. There has just died at Wanganui a very old and highly-esteemed resident of the Dominion, in the person of Mrs. Louisa S. RusselL The deceased arrived in NewZealand by the Annie Wilson in the early I* sixties" and settled in Auckland, marrying Captain Morris, of the Go Ahead, * steamer well known as a frequenter of the port of Wanganui in the early days. Mrs. Morris went through the stirring times of the Maori War, while her husband was engaged in bringing supplies for the Imperial troops in the Waikato River district. Captain Morris afterwards traded in the Go Ahead between Dunedin and Wanganui until the time of his death. In later years Mrs. Morris married Mr. S. H. Russell, and leaves a family of one son and three daughters, Mrs. Speed (Auckland), Mrs. Moss (Hastings), Mrs. C. H. Jacobs (Wanganui), and Mr. H. J. Russell, postmaster, of RusselL
