VERDICT OF NOT GUILTY.

NOTABLE NELSON CASE. [by telegraph.—press association] NELSON. Thursday. At the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Stringer Emma Caroline Fletcher, in whose case the juries disagreed at the last sessions, was again placed on trial on a charge of unlawfully using an instrument with intent to procure miscarriage. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty. His Honor recommended the Crown to enter a, nolle prosequi on the murder charge, and adjourned that trial to the next sittings, the prisoner being meanwhile liberated on bail.

At the last sessions accused was tried on a charge of the murder of Triede Ruby Sandel, but the jury disagreed. Accused was then arraigned on the count of using an instrument. The evidence was the same as in the previous trial. The jury again disagreed, and a retrial was ordered.
