THE ASSOCIATION GAME.

H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND MATCHES.

Very groat interest is being taken in the game to be played at the Domain to-morrow between H.M.S. New Zealand's team and the Auckland representative eleven. During the tour of the battle-cruiser in Australia and New Zealand no fewer than 12 victories hare been gained by the ship's team. T&eir speedy forwards are the strongest part of the team, a prominent feature of their play being accurate shooting. They have a onetime English League player for captain, Lay cock, the left back, and his play should be worth watching. The goalkeeper is reputed to be first-class, and doubtless will be hard to beat. The Auckland team is particularly strong in all departments. The wing forwards, Saunders and Webster, are very fast, and the three inside players will be difficult to hold. The three half-backs are all experienced players, being good in attack and defence. Cooke, at centre, can put in a telling shot on occasions. Two fine backs, in Roberts and Wallwork, with a reliable custodian in Wolstenholm. constitute the last line of defence, and the New Zealand's forwards will find their work cat out to pierce this defence. The teams are: — H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND (Colour: Black). Goal: Chamberlain. Backs : Soathcombe Layeock (capt.) Halves: Hamilton Neilson Sontag Forwards. Scott Busby McGregor Gibson TraffoTd AUCKLAND (Blue and White Shirts, White Knickers). Goal: Wolstenholm. Roberts Wallwork .
