WELLINGTON, Thursday.
The Auckland University College Site Bill "was considered in Committee to-night.
Mr. A. E. Glover (Auckland Central) recalled that he had been one of the most active in opposing the proposal to take Government ©ouse Grounds in 1910. He did not want now to offer any opposition, and would not oppose the Bill, seeing that Government House was properly safeguarded.

Reed (Bay of Islands) asked I if the Prime Minister knew how much of 1 this area would be covered by buildings I and -tfhen the next application for another portion of the whole area might be ex- ; pected. He also asked whether provision would be made to obtain a larger area | outside the city. I Mr. Payne said it was a great pity that j tie whole area could not be taken and a magnificent building erected facing Waterloo Quadrant. uMr. A. Harris (Waitemata) said the Bill *as the same as that introduced bv the Son. G. Fowlds in 1911. | Mr. Massey : That is not so. Young (Waikato) spoke in jbpport of the Bill, but said he believed » larger area would be- necessary. I The Bill was reported without amendment, read a third time, and passed.
