STOCKS AND SHARES.
BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY.
There was increased activity on the Stock Exchange yesterday, both investment and mining stocks being in strong ; demand, several transactions resulting. ! New Zealand War Loans, 1938, sold at ! £95 10s. In banks, New Zealands, fully fully paid, again sold at £19, with late sellers at £19 2s 6d. In insurances New Zealands were firmer, selling at 34s 9d, with closing sellers at 355, and buyers at 348 6d. South British were still wanted at £9 8s 6d, sellers £9 10s. Business was reported in Nationals at 85s. with further sellers at the price, buyers 83s 6d. Standards were wanted at 595. In financial lines a sale was reported -in River Plates at 43s 6d. In shipping, Huddart Parkers sold at 46s 6d, and later business was reported at 46s 9d, with late sellers asking 47s 3d. P. and O.'s had sellers at £600, and buyers were offering £590. In miscellaneous lines business was reported in New Zealand Refrigerating (old) at 955. Union Oils changed hands at 30s 6d, and Wilsons Cements at 16s. In mining, Talismans were a shade easier, selling at lis 3d, with firmer buyers thereafter at lis 4d. and sellers at lis 6d. Grand Junctions were done at 14s 6d. and Rising Suns at Is 6d.
