DARING LONDON ROBBERY.

£1000 WORTH OF TOBACCO TAKEN

A daring daylight robbery in the West End of London was committed between four and fiv o'clock one morning recently on the premises of Messrs. Freeman and Co., cigar merchants, Piccadilly. The thieves smashed three locks en the front door, entered the shop, and made off with about 12,000 cigars and cigarettes, worth over £1000. Judging bv the weight of the property stolen, it is believed that four thieves were concerned. " They took away whole cabinet* of cigars." said a member of the firm. " They must have used a motor-car. It is inconceivable that a robbery like thus should take place in daylight in Piccadilly without anyone knowing it.''
