j.L was decided that if suitable matches could be arranged, representative teams from the first juniors and fourth grade be sent to Thames on October 4. lie delegates to the conference of the New Zeaiand Kugby Union held or Friday last resorted that on reaching Wellington it was realised at once that the feelings of both permanent and visiting delegates were strongly opposed to all the Auckland remits and to the position that the Auckland Union had taken up in regard to playing the amended rules At any rate, tne Auckland Union had been misrepresented or misunderstood by most unions. The delegates, by personal interviews and small conferences, right up to the time of the meeting, were able to place the position before the delegates in its proper aspect. The meeting was almost representative, the only union not represented being South Canterbury. Two matters which impressed the delegates were the consistent manner in which every proposal emanating from Auckland w?.s opposed by Wellington. Poverty Bay, and the Bay of Plenty representatives, and the splendid help given by the Taranaki and Manawatu representatives. A full report of the deliberations of the conference was published on Saturday. The report was received, and a vote of thanks passed to the delegates. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY. The Rugby fixtures for Saturday art: — Bay of Plenty v. Auckland, Eden Park, 3.15 p.m , Mr. Paul. Fifth Grade: Grafton v. Manst Bros.. Eden Park. 2 p.m., Mr. Handcock. Primary Schools: Auckland v. Hamilton, Eden Park, 1 p.m. House Match: John Burns and Co-, Ltd M v. Sarsood. Son, and Ewen. Victoria Park, Mr. Hintz. UNDER LEAGUE RULES. DECISIONS OF EXECUTIVE. The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League met last evening, Mr. E. Stallworthy presiding. There were also present: Messrs. A. E. Powell, R. Pollock. G. Whitley, K. McDonald. J. Endean. C. Brocklis, A. Ball, T, Finding, and tie secretary, Mr. I. Culpan. An application from the City Club that the second grade match between City and Sunnyside. which had resulted in a draw, be replayed, was considered, and it was decided that no action be taken in the matter.

It wae decided, in respect to an application from the St. John Ambulance Brigade for a. League match to be played in the Domain for the benefit of the brigade, on October 4. that the request be declined, as many of the players were stale, owing to the number of representative games they had taken part in. Resolutions from the Wellington League and the New Zealand League respectively, the former dealing with a proposed League conference, and the latter forbidding the formation of any association of players without the sanction of the local League, were considered. It was decided that copies of the resolutions be forwarded to the various clubs for consideration and report. ASHER BENEFIT MATCH. It was decided by the Auckland League last evening that a benefit match for A. Asher, a prominent League player, who has been seriously injured in an accident at work, should be played on Saturday next at Victoria Park. The City Club, for which Asher played during several seasons, will meet Maritime. An excellent gam© should bfc witnessed, as the respective teams figured prominently in the club competitions during the season. MATCHES FOR SATURDAY. The following matches will be played on Saturday: — First —Maritime v. City, Victoria Park No. 1, 3 p.m.; Mr Dempsey. Fifth Grade.—North Shore v. City. North Shore, 3 o'clock: Mr. Farrant. Sixth Grade.City v. Maritime, Victoria Park No. 1. 2 p.m.; Mr. Mincham. Herald v. Star—Victoria Park No. 2, 3 p.m.; Mr, Hill.
