EDEN TERRACE ROAD WORKS.
. Sir,— appears to me the City Council is going to spoil the New North Road, instead of improving it. For one thing it ?s taking too much off the northern footpath, and raising the kerb above the level of our shop doors, which is going to cause trouble and expense. Surely the level could have been left as before; it would not have been noticed and would have saved the Council expense as well. Again, it will be the height of folly if the Council does not take off the dangerous angle opposite the Masonic Hall, where there is a vacant allotment; also opposite Cole's boot shop, and opposite Porter's Avenue. Now is the time to do this, and the result would be greater safety, better appearance, and general benefit. I appeal to the Council to consider these important points. I also consider it will be dangerous to pave the slopes in the road with concrete. The whole road would have been better done in tarred macadam well laid. Shopkeeper.
