ST. MARY'S BAY FATALITY.
VERDICT OF "FOUND DROWNED."
An inquest into the death of the little boy GordofT Atholl Cowley, whose body was found floating in the harbour off St. Mary's Beach on Wednesday afternoon] was held by the coroner, Mr. J. E. Wilson, S.M., yesterday. Evidence of identification was given by Gordon A Cowley, father of the deceased, who said that the boy was missed from home in the morning a good search proving fruitless. He had often gone to the beach with other boys, but never alone. The evidence of another witness was that a child was seen walking from Shelley Beach toward the Ring Terrace cliffs but it was uncertain whether this was the de ceased.
After hearing statements as to discovery and subsequent recovery of the body, „he coroner returned a verdict that deceased was found drowned in Auckland Harbour, there being no evidence as to how he came to be in the water.
