REFUSAL TO PARADE.
ANOTHER FINE OR DETENTION [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Tuesday. I A defiant youth, aged 16 years, who had written to the Defence Office saying he had made up his mind not to drill any more owing to the inconvenience, was charged in the Police Court, to-day, before Mi. H. A. Young, S.M., -with failing to render personal service. ln_ Court the excuses he gave were . that he did not always feel like it," "that it was a good way to walk," and "that he did not think it necessary, as drilling had not done any good." In reply to the magistrate, the youth said he did not intend to drill, and was at present paving off a fine of £5, imposed for failing to attend drill. The magistrate imposed a fine of £5 end 7s costs, and ordered that if the i mount was not paid forthwith defendant was to be detained in the military detention barracks for 28 days.
