UNSETTLED WEATHER.

GALE ON THE WEST COAST. ROUGE SEA ON MANUKAU BAB. The climatic conditions at Auckland are very unsettled, changing every few hoars. The fine weather over the week-end was followed by a change of wind to the north and dull threatening weather, culminating late on Monday in heavy rain showers, which lasted until after c, a.m. yesterday. Ihe wind then changed to the westward and blew strongly all day from that direction. There were frequent heavy squalls, accompauied by rain showers, and these conditions lasted up to a late hour, with no signs of moderating. On the west coast a scale has been blowing since about 8 p.m. on Monday. The wind was from the west until about 3 p.m. yesterday, when it changed to the south-west. This change exposed Ihe Manukau Bar to the full force of. the gale, and verv shortly the sea on the bar was very rough. The wind and sea showed no signs of moderating last night. The Rarawa is due at Onehunga from New Plymouth this morning. It is expected she will be able to cross inward with the flood tide about 9 a.m., but if the conditions do not moderate it is doubtful if she will be able to cross outward for New Plymouth in the afternoon. The barometer, which registered 29 95 deg. on Sunday night, had fallen to 29.70 by 4 a.m. yesterday. It remained practically steady at that reading up to a late hour. The following forecast was issued by Mr. G. L. Wragge yesterday afternoon: — Generally fan- or fine except for showers along the western coast parts, over the ' North Island, but unsettled in the South, with ram and snow, squallv under disturbance named Nequol. Winds mainly from between north-weet and south-west
