INFLATED LAND VALUES.
• *■ BOARD REFUSES ADVANCE. [by telegraph.—press association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. At a meeting of the Canterbury Land Board a soldier applied for an advance of £670 to purchase a suburban property, the pre-war value of which was stated to be £425. No improvements had been effected Ihe application was promptly refused. Ine following motion Was carried:—" In all cases where an exorbitant price is asked i in excess of pre-war values, without improvements by additions having been ' made, the board should decline the appli- > cation and recommend the applicant- to < erect a new dwelling." i'
