1 BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY. The sharemarket wak active again yesterday, the demand x for investment stocks » being well sustained. In banks, Anstra- • lasias were wanted at £128, Commercials (pref.) at £6 7s, and Nationals at £6 8s , &d, no sellers quoting. Sellers/of New Zealands firmed a shade to £15 Is, buyers £14 15s. Fully paid issue were also firmer at £19 2s sellers. In insurances , business was reported in New Zealands at 34s 6d, sellers closing at same price, | with buyers at 34s 3d. There was a fur- , ther advance in South British, which sold \ at the record price of £9 Bs, more being , wanted at £9 7s 6d, and late sellers holding for £9 10s. In financial lines buyers ot Loan and Mercantile advanced oners I from £111 to £114, no sellers responding. 1 In coals inquiry for Northerns (10s paid) , was a little firmer at 7s 3d, sellers Bs. In shipping, sales were reported in HuddartParkere at 495, and Northern steams (con.) at 8s 9d. For P. andO.'s (deferred stock) buyers advanced offers £2 to £570, with sellers firm at £580. In miscellaneous lines Wilsons Cements were a shade easier, selling at 16s. New Zealand ,War , Loans, 1938, changed hands at £95 10s. In mining, business was reported in Waihis at 48s, sellers closing at 48s 3d, buyers at 47s 6d. Grand Junctions at 15s, were wanted at 14s 9d. Talismans still had buyers at 10s, sellers 10s 3d.
