According to these statistics, which are taken from the latest Government Blue j Book, there are nine counties to the north of Auckland with a total area of 3.892,880 acres, out of which only 1,057,367 acres are cultivated, leaving 2,835,523 acres unused and unproductive. According to the same statistics, there are in other counties of the Auckland Province, besides the areas just mentioned, 7,000.000 acres unused and unproductive, making a total of over 10,000,000 acres of land, including forest areas and reserves, in the Auckland Province alone, which has yet to be brought into productive use or under cultivation.
