STOCKS AND SHARES.
BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY, An excellent tone prevailed on the sharemarket yesterday, and in three instances record prices were realised for investment stocks. In banks, Commercials (pref.) were wanted at £6 6s, no sellers quoting. New Zealands were firmer at £15 2a 6d, buyers £14 15s. Insurances were in strong demand. In New Zealands a sale was reported at the record figure of 33s 3d, late buyers advancing offers, to 33s 6d and no sellers quoting. A record was also established m South British, sales taking place at £8 19s 6d and £9, with late sellers up to £9 5s and buyers left at £9. In gas, Auck'.ands were a shade easier, selling at 265. In shipping, a fair number of Huddart-Parkers changed hands at the record price of 51s, more being wanted at 50s, sellers 51s. In miscellaneous lines, Auckland Tramways were slightly easier, business being done at 20s 9d. Milne and Chovce debentures sold at 2'Ss Bd, ana S. R. Maxwells at 325. In mining there was r.n easier tendency. Waihis sold at 47s 6d, ! sellers closing at 47s 9d, buyers at 475. Grand Junctions were done at 14s lOd, and more could have been placed at that figure, late sellers asking 15s. Talismans chanced hands at Bs, with late sellers at 8s 3d, buyers 7s 7d.
