Business in the fruit and produce markets 1 has beeu fairly active during the past week. At yesterday's sales choice dessert appies realised as high as 22s a case, this being brought by the best De.icious, whnst Dohertys and Stunners fetched from lis to 15s. Cooking apples were in rather better demand than last week, Mauroes bringing up to 13s a case; poorer samples were Quitted at from 9s to lis- Lemons, best Quality, brought up to 18s 6d a case, lower grades selling from 10s to 12s. The limited supplies of oranges offered found purchasers at as high as 29s a case. Josephine and Winter Cole pears were sold up to 23s a case; there -was not such & keen demand for Peter Barrys, which did not go beyond 19s- Fiji bananas ex Talune, brought from 12s to 13s a case. All classes o£ vegetables realised good rates. New potatoes brought 4Jd per lb, the (fiality being indifferent. Onions brought , rd. prices.
