MARY PICKFORD TO RETIRE.
INCOME NOW OVER £300,000.
A London paper publishes a telegram from Boston stating that Mrs. Charlotte smith, the mother of Mary Pickford, says 'hat her daughter intends to retire'after completing the nine pictures for which she is now under contract. After that, according to her mother, Miss Pickford "will settle down and enjoy the fruits of her hard-earned savings." Miss Mary Pickford, who has been called " the Queen of the Films," is reported to be the most highly-paid cinema star in the world. Her earnings are stated to be over £300,000 per annum. She is an ad ian by birth, and her features .are larmliar to the public in every civilised country.
