«. FLOTATION OF COMPANY. Mr. H. C. Tucker, 0.8. E., -who recently arrived in Auckland by the b.s. Niagara, is well known in Australia for his patriotic efforts during the war, which resulted in raising over £500,000 for various war purposes. He ha« lately been interesting himself in the establishment of new industries in Australia, having for their main object the employment of partially incapacitated soldiers and their dependants. Last year he visited Jhe U.S.A., and secured "from Mr. Marshall B. Lloyd, of Menominee, Michigan, a new and wonderful invention, known as The Lloyd Reed Loom, for the manufacture of all kinds of reed basket and wicker-work by machinery, this beine the first and only invention of its kind in the world. This Mr. Lloyd is also the inventor of the machine for making Ihe wire mattress for beds, which has universal use. The Australian Commonwealth Government has thoroughly investigated the proposition, and has offered Mr. Tucker the. sum of £50,000 for the Australian patent rights, and has paid a preliminary deposit of £5000. Mr. Tucker's object iD visiting Auckland is to float a company to acouire and develop the New Zealand rights,- a.id believes that this city offers the best prospects of success. A complete unit of plant has now arrived in Auckland, and its immediate erection will be proceeded with to demonstrate its possibilities". The vendor, Mr. Tucker, claims that he can produce a higher grade of work than hand work, 20 times faster, and at onefifth of the labour cost. Samples of the work Produced will shortly be on view, and several of our leadinc citizens who have some knowledge of the proportion are frai kly astonished at. its wonderful possibilities. The plant will be erected here, and delivered to the proposed new company in wrrkinr order, with" trained operators and Miffk'ent raw material for several months' operation?. All expenses of demonstrat nig, erection, and flotation will be paid bv the vendor, and everv opportunity afforded to desiring investors to thoroughly examine the proposition Tup capital of the proposed company will be £15 000.
