Mrs. Rassie was conveyed to the General Hospital, and detained there fc treatment. The other injured penpie were removed to their homes, where th- were medically treated. Only meagre details as to how the accident happened were available last evening, no reports having reached the management, nor had the police report been completed. It appears that two outwardbound cars — for Victoria Avenue driven by Mr. S. Eustace, and one for Epsom, driven by Mr. T. Green, were travelling down Khyber Pass in the order named, the second car being close behind the other. It being "rush" hour the care were both full. The Victoria Avenue car stopped at Park Road to enable passengers to alight, and while it was stationary the Epsom car, apparently out of control, crashed into it. It is believed that the air brake of the Epsom car refused to act, thus accounting for the accident. The car had stopped at two stopping- places higher up Khyber Pass, and the brake was then in proper order. The violent impact threw the passengers in both cars in all directions, and caused the stationary Victoria Avenue car to continue its course. Both cars were badly damaged. The rear platform of the front car was stove in, and the giass wind-screen and some of the side windows were broken, the glass being scattered about among the passengers. The front platform of the Epsom car was also stove in, the bottom buffer we * torn off, and many windows were broken. No constructional damage was done to the interior of either car.
The motormar. of the rear car, Mr. Green, had a miraculous esoape from serious injury, only his fingers being badly cut, apparently by the class. First aid was rendered to the injured by passengers and passers-by. .After about half an hour's delay the damaged cars were removed to the Epsom depot.
