Further information was obtained yesterday in regard to the extent of the " go«low" policy in operation at the coal mines in the Lower Waikato. The output from the Taupiri Company's Extended mine, at Hnntly, was 453 tons, an increase of 20 tons compared with the output on Tuesday. The output from the Kotowaro mine was 284 tons, or four tons less than the quantity secured on Tuesday. The total output from the two mines was, therefore, 737 tons. The combined normal ouput is something over 1000 tons. No definite figures were obtainable yesterday from the officials of the Pukemiro Company as to the extent of the " goslow ' methods at the Pukemiro mine. It was stated, however, that the normal output from the mine has been reduced daily by about 100 tone. The men employed at the Hikurangi mine, north of Whangarei, held a stopwork meeting on Tuesday evening. It was reported in Auckland yesterday that no decision was arrived at by the meeting regarding a proposal to commence a " go- ] slow " policy. At all events, the output from the mine yesterday was about normal. Inquiries were made at the office of the | Northern Coal Company yesterday regard- , ing the conditions at the mine owned by j that proprietary. The officials had no ini formation as to whether a stop-work meet- ! ing had been held. It was stated that I the output had not varied from normal.

WEST COAST OUTPUT DECREASED.

DUNBDIN, Wednesday. Information was received to-day to the effect that there was an appreciable fall-iuc-oS in the output yesterday from the Westport Company's collieries. It is understood that a conference ha* been convened by the Mine Owners' Association to be held in Wellington on Wednesday next.
