WORLD'S WHEAT SUPPLY
BRITISH PURCHASES. 500,000 TONS FROM CANADA. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reod. 7 p.m.) OTTAWA. Sept. 2. The British Wheat Commission has bought 500,000 tons of wheat from Canada for early delivery. The price paid is approximately the same as the price paid last year. The! high price prevented the commission from making a larger purchase. The Roumanian wheat harvest is excellent. Argentine prices for wheat are low. It is not expected, accord- j ing to the Canadian Wheat Board, ' that Australia will be able to compete in the European wheat market j owing to lack of shipping.
