THE MINISTRY
The final selection for the Ministry is assured of general and cordial approbation. Mr. Coates is typical in character and qualifications of the men to whom the country looks for wise government. A young man among politicians, he has had a varied and extensive experience in the conduct of public affairs, and has proved himself energetic and enterprising. His record with the New Zealand Division in France is also a promise of courageous and faithful, work in the sen-ice of the Crown. Not the least satisfactory feature of the Cabinet reconstruction has been the inclusion of two returned soldiers, who have displayed under sterner tests the qualities of leadership that are needed to guide the Dominion through the difficulties of the present times. Mr. Massey's latest choice is particularly acceptable to the Auckland Province. He has given direct representation in the Cabinet, for '' the first time, to the neglected North Auckland district, and both it and the country as a whole will be benefited by the presence in the Ministry of a member who has taken an active part in the development of the North, both as a farmer and a member of local bodies, and has an enthusiastic belief in its possibilities as a field for settlement and a producer of wealth.
