MANUKAU ROAD.
Sir,—-I endorse all that " Shopkeeper " i stated in Tuesday's Hkhai.t*. As one who is forced to use this road, I can state that it is a disgrace to the Auckland City Council, and that is putting it mildly. Plenty of the roads away in the backblocks are in better condition than portions of this thoroughfare. The part that hurts me most is to see the unfortunate children who attend the Newmarket school breathing the air full of dust, also the girls going to the Grammar School in Epsom breathe this dust, The council apparently will not water the road on dusty dayiJ, nor will it attend to nutting metal on. It is getting intolerable. Might I suggest that a meeting of residents be called forthwith before the summer come.", along. I understand the naving of the road will not take place for quite a long time. Yet it astounds mo to think that the public has tolerated the disgraceful j condition of this thoroughfare for so long. StTTFEMK. I
