THE TAKAPUNA MEETING.

Sir,— In the Herald's report of a, pub* lie meeting hold at Takapuna on Tuesday evening to consider tramway matters, ati excusable inaccuracy has crept in. %i> icfcrs to an amendment movitd by Mr, A. M. Gould, requesting an explanation of policy from His Worship the Mayor. This was carried as an amendment to a preceding motion, but on being again put to the meeting, as ordinary procedure demands, a subsequent amendment, referred to in your report as a suggestion, was moved by Mr. F. E. N. Gaudin. Owing mainly to the latenoss of the hour and some misunderstanding, this latter amendment was net nut to the meeting, and it is obvious then that by all rules of procedure the meeting did not ratify any motion requesting either Mayor or councillors to make an explanation of policy. J. A. Bartrtjm Takapuna, September 3.
