THE CRYSTALATE CUP. The last game in the first round of theCrystalate Cud competition, -was played in Alcock's Rooms last evening between E. Burke and J. Stanton. TLe early stages of the game were marked by safety tactics by both players. Stanton was the first to settle down, nd - reached the hundred mark 30 ahead of his opponent. An even game resulted till the second hundred was reached. with a margin of 10 points in favour of Burke. There was nothing in the way of breaks from this on. and at the ITtb visit the marker called the scores: Burke 319 Stanton 275. The former showed some cf his better form as the game advanced, and dr"\v away from his opponent, eatabl.shlng a le3d of 100 at the 60th cue. He ran on; a winner by 80 points, averaging 5.5. The winner's best breaks were 23. 34. 20. 20. 27. and 20. and Stanton's best breaks were 24. 24, 23, I 21. This evening Mr. F. Farrell meets Mr. I E. Brinsden.
