THE RUGBY GAME.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE,
The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union met last evening. Present: Messrs. N. K. Jones (chairman). H. Frost, H. T. Revell, A. Bayliss, S. Hinton. B. W. Hayson, G. Miller, and P. McElwain (secretary). The Kaipara Rugby Union wrote asking if a club team could be sent to Helensvilie to play a match this season. It was suggested that the Marist Brothers team should be asked to undertake the trip, and the committee agreed to refer the matter to that club. Permission was granted to the Bank of New Zealand to play the National Bank on, September 22 at the Show Ground. The Parnell Third Grade team lodged a protest against a decision of the referee in the match against Ellerslie, played on Saturday last, on the ground that a try was not properly scored. Consideration of the matter was deferred till next meeting. The Wellington Union notified that it was prepared to play Auckland for the Ranfurly Shield at Wellington on September 17. It was decided not to accept the offer owing to the unsatisfactory travelling facilities and the expense involved in making tho trip. It was stated it was uncertain whether the committee could get its best team away to Wellington, and a s this could not be determined till a later date, and the challenge had to be in last evening, it was thought H w ould be inadvisable to agree to the proposal. Mr. P. McElwain was appointee, manager of the Auckland team that is to play Taranaki at New Plymouth on Thursday next. Messrs. N. R. Jones, H. Frost, and A. Wetherall were appointed delegates to the annual conference of delegates to the New Zealand Rugby Union, to be held at Wellington on Friday, September 19. The Whangarei Union wrote asVng whether a match against the Auckland A representative team could be arranged this season. It was decided to offer to play the Whangarei representatives a* Auckland on Saturday if this were suitable. Failing that, Grafton will play Grammar School Old Boys at Eden Park. The curtain-raiser in any case will be the final of the Fifth Grade | competition, Marist Brothers v. Grafton.

[BY TKLEGBAJfH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NAPIER. Wednesday. The match between the Auckland Juniors and Napier City was played at Napier today. Auckland winning by 30 points to 9. THE ASSOCIATION GAME. H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND MATCHES. The New Zealand Football Council has advised the Management Committee of the Auckland Football Association that arrangements have been concluded with the sports executive of H.M.S. New Zealand to allot September 27 and 50 as dates for the two matches against Auckland. The Management Committee decided to offer the game fixed j for September 50 to the Entertainment Com- ! mittee. At last evening's meeting .of that : committee it was decided to arrange the ! sports gathering to suit this date and to leave September 27 clear for the Auckland Association's first match with a team from the H.M.S. New Zealand. In view of the impending matches against H.M.S. New Zealand the following trial teams have beon selected to meet on Saturday afternoon at North Shore:— North Shore Colours: Oldnall.
