GRANTS FOP, LARGER SCHOOLS.

The Auckland Education Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. E. C. Banks, presiding over a full attendance of mem bers.

The Department notified that the Minister had approved a resolution passed at the recent meeting of the Council of Education with regard to the establishment of a District High School at Te Awamutu. as from the beginning of next year. .-l motion by Mr. J. S. Bond that the board rescind the motion passed recently that the sum of £900 be transferred from the genera! technical fund to the new Seddon Memorial Technical College fund. was withdrawn by the mover after brief discussion.

Grants for enlargement of school buildings were announced by the Department as follows:— H imera. £644; Rukuhia. £600; Richmond West, £116.
