DWELLING CONDEMNED.
UNSUCCESSFUL APPEAL.
An appeal against an order issued by the Public Health Department condemning a house as unfit for human habitation ■was made by the owner before Mr. G. W K. Kendrick, S.M., at the Rotorua Magistrate's Court recently. After hearing the evidence, and personally inspecting the property, the magistrate dismissed the appeal, and ordered the appellant to par £6 14s costs. The district health officer Auckland, stated yesterday that the anpeal was the first action of the kind heard in the Auckland Province, since the 1918 amendment to the Public Health Act came into force. This amendment provided that any building or portion of a buildin" in v a condition unfit for human habitation or dangerous to public health may be condemned.
