INFANT FATALLY BURNED.

BEDCLOTHES CATCH FIRE. [BY TELEGBATH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PAEROA, Tuesday. A Maori infant, Mata Timi Aprahamo, about two years of age, died on Sunday as the result of burns accidentally received on Saturday night. The child and her cousin were put to bed on Saturday evening. The latter was reading a book, and went to sleep, leaving the candle alight. She was aroused by smoke, and found the blankets on fire. The fire was soon put out, but not before the child was burned on the chest and face. An inquest was held this afternoon, when a verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure, following shock from burns accidentally received.
