SNOW IN KING COUNTRY.
COLD SNAP EXPERIENCED.
LOSSES OF LAMBS FEARED.
.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
TE KUITI. Tuesday.
A fairly heavy fail of snow took place at Mairoa. this morning. Mr. Chapman's farm and other high country in the vicinity were well covered. The weather was intensely cold at '.imes in Te Kuiti to-day. Very heavy rain has fallen, and many of the roads are in a bad condition.
A stock authority remarked this morning that, such weather as is being experienced to-day is certain to have a disastrous eSect on the young lambs. Lambing is now in full swing in the King Country Rain does the lambs no harm, but rain and extreme cold work havoc.
