SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION.
MEMBERSHIP TOTALS 10,368. The executive of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association met last evening, Mr. G. Eliott presiding. The membership was reported] to be 10,368, new members enrolling daring August numbering 979. In reply to the suggestion of the executive that the Druids' Uodge should not require returned soldier applicants for mem- i i hership to state whether they had ever | 1 suffered from venereal disease unless this ! question is put to other applicant?, the Krand Lodge wrote seating that it was entitled to conduct its business in whatever manner it considered to be in the best interests of members. Every member of the lodge who went to the front was kept -'financial, free of charge. In the event- of the death of any soldier member '-he allowance of £120 was paid. The ' matter was referred to a committee, for further action. \ It was decided to again suggest to the City Council that free passes for the train,l wars be granted to disabled men. It was I stated that this concession is granted in Wellington, and, to some extent, in C hrist(hurcb. ___________««-
