FIRE AT ONEHUNGA.
NINE-ROOMED HOUSE BURNED
ALL CONTENTS DESTROYED.
STARTS IN WASH-HOUSE.
Fire yesterday afternoon destroyed, with all its contents, a nine-roomed house, situated in Moana Avenue, Onehunga, and owned by Mr. W. H. Hemingway, who is at present in Australia. The fire started in the wash-house, which was being used, and the strong wind carried the flames on to the houee, on which they soon had a good hold. Unfortunately, news of the fire was sent into Auckland instead of to Onehunga direct, conse quently the house was enve'oped in flames when the alarm wag received at Onehunga. The local fire brigade responded promptly, and succeeded, at great risk to some of the firemen, in saving a well-furniehed eight-roomed house situated within 15ft of the burning building. Mrs. Hemingway was unable to give any particulars of the insurance on the building or furniture.
