THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
INCREASED CAPITATION URGED.
The Board of Manager* of the Seddon Memorial Technical College met last evening, Mr. A. J. Entrican presiding. There were also present Messrs. H. D. Heather, H. S. W. King, G. W. Murray, C. R. Munro, and the director, Mr. George George It was decided to communicate with the Minister for Education, emphasising, that until the capitation rates jyere increased the board would find it impossible to pay sufficiently high salaries to. attract or retain highly qualified ' intruetors Messrs. A. Harris, M.P., H. S. W. King, and the director, Mr. . George; George, were appointed to represent the; board at the conference of managers and directors of technical schools at Wellington on September 10. The resignation of Mr. E. J. Thompson, chief commercial instructor, was; accepted with regret. , The appointment of Mr. H. A; Jones as instructor in commercial subjects was confirmed.
