Lieutenant-Colonel G. Barclay left lot the South on Saturday.
Dr, H. J. Barnicoat, of Palmerston North, is at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. V. Denness, at London, is at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. C. A. Juriss, formerly of Christ church, has been appointed deputy-in. spector of fire brigades.
Mr. C- L. Wiggins, who conducts a preparatory school in connection with Christ's College, is about to retire after over 60 years connection with education in Canterbury.
Mr. C. A. Seager, who has been for over 20 years manager for Messrs. Turnbull and Jones in Christchurch, has been appointed manager of the firm's Auckland branch.
Mr. Justice Cooper will leave for Hamilton this morning to preside over the civil and criminal sessions of the Supreme Court in the Waikato centre which open to-morrow morning.
Engineer-Lieutenant-Commander William Earnshaw, R.N., who is president of the New Zealand Naval Officers' Association, is returning to New Zealand by the Corinthic after thre« and a-ha'f years' service in the Royal Navy. During this period he filled the positions of engineering instructor- at Portsmouth, engineer-lieutenant H.M.S. Superb, and latterly officer in charge of the construction of destroyers, on the Admiralty shore superintendent's staff at Glasgow". He has been elected a member of the Institute of Naval Architects, member of the Institute of /Engineers and Shipbuilders in Scotland, and associate member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
