CHRIST'S COLLEGE CONTROL
ELECTION OF NEW GOVERNORS
The government of Christ's College by an elected board is being inaugurated. The Board of Governors as originally constituted, is to give place to a body in which for the first time the Christ's College Old Boys' Association is to have direct representation. In future it will consist of the warden and 18 fellows. Of the latter, nine are elected by the retiring board, six by the Old Boys* Association, and three by the Standing Committee of the diocese. This change was brought about by legislation at the last session of Parliament, when the " life tenure" of fellows of the college was abolished, and the board was empowered to make statutes providuifi: for an elective body to replace the old board. Undttr the new system one-third of the representatives of each electing body will retire every three years. All retirements and other vacancies among the nine fellow,B appointed by the board now retirine will be filled by the vote of the board as a whole. Except for those fellows who retire, by lot, in three and six years' time respectively, the tenure of office of each fellow is to be nine years.
