COUNTY BOUNDARIES.

A discussion regarding the unsatisfactory nature of the boundaries of the existing counties in this district took place at a meeting of ratepayers of two counties at Piopio. Mr. R. Boddy, chairman of the Awakmo County Council, said that in the interests of the whole district it would be advisable for the ratepayers to arrive at an amicable understanding in regard to the boundaries. His county had its headquarters at Jbiopio, which was in the Waitomo County, and he had no objection if his. county ceased to exist. Mr. 6, K. Wilson favoured action being taken. The question ehould be dealt with in a comprehensive maiaer. It was a scandals he said, that the ratepayers should lava to pay' for what were, almost entirely, motor roads. The main arterial roads should be taken ov«?r and maintained by the Government. Mr. Jackson moved: "That this meeting of ratepayers ask the Waitomo County Council to call a conference of local bodies adjoining the Waitomo County for the purpose of discussing the question of alterations to the boundaries." Mr.. James Wall, chairman of the Waitomo Council, emphasised the necessity for adjustment. The motion was carried unanimously.
